his viral anecdote claims that during a concert in 1975, Elvis was informed that there was a blind girl in the crowd. The musician stopped the show to bring the girl up on stage where they had a heartfelt exchange. After the show, Elvis was so moved by the little girl’s story that he gave her a $50,000 check and a concert ticket (plus travel expenses) to every one of his future shows. There’s no evidence to support this version of events. This is a modern-day work of fiction that is far removed from any firsthand accounts of Presley’s interactions with blind fans. Possums are not only welcome at Beth Button’s Boiling Springs home, they are loved, fed and given shelter. Button, who works at USC Upstate, is among eight volunteers who have helped rescue and rehabilitate possums through The Opossum’s Pouch, a nonprofit formed in July. I MISSED YOU TODAY
I missed you today but that’s nothing new,I missed you a million times yesterday too.I picked up my phone to tell you the news, then realised, again, I can’t text it to you. I missed you today but I miss you a lot,It’s helpful to miss you, it’s all that I’ve got.I wish I could pull you down here for a whileI’m frightened to lose the shape of your smile. I miss you today and I’ll miss you…

Mark Twain (American writer and humorist)
THE MARK Twain we learned about in school is a less than inspiring figure: Twain, the children’s author of riverside idylls; Twain, the bitter misanthrope who lashed out at society because of his personal failures; Twain, the racist who grew up in a slaveholding family. Most famously, there is Mark Twain, father of American Literature–the figure consciously created by the American literary establishment in the 1940s and 1950s. This Twain is a powerful symbol of the American dream, the spirit of the frontier and westward expansion–he is a nationalist hero. Yet Twain was one of the most forthright critics of American ruling-class ideology at the turn of the 20th century.…
